I don't think of cleats as "go fast" gear....I imagine them as security gear. I have noticed several men and women slide and drop guns or slip and fall donning hiking shoes when it would not materialize whenever they were donning cleats. the sole time I'v seen them be a downside was on stairs, platforms etcetera that don't have carpet on them.
